It's back to the Forties for Dead Men's Spex with North Norfolk Railway

This weekend - Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th September we will be out and about and dusting off our stall and heading off to the North Norfolk Railway 1940s weekend This event gets bigger and more popular every year.  We are quite excited we will be bringing the van which Dead man has been working on. It now has LED interior lights and storage for the essentials such as  tea making equipment!  If he disappears from the stall, you'll know where to find him.

We will also be bringing the important stuff -(if anything is ever more important than tea!) lots of great vintage spectacles. Dead man has been preparing plenty of frames including a glazing a whole load of forties frames with sunglass lenses so you can look cool in that lovely Autumnal sunshine which we usually get for this weekend. Another year and it's still 1942

It's hard to believe that another year has come around and we are now preparing for Holt and Sherringham's 1940 weekend. We are again sacrificing cute animals to the "God's of fine weather" but this year looks like it could be a damp one. But not to worry as we will be under cover on the market field at Holt station and have a lovely stock of original period frames for you to peruse whilst sheltering from the showers.

Come and see us and don't forget to bring your prescription if you want lenses fitted.

I'm just off to the workshop to make sure you all get the bests frames possible, but before I go I think I'll just go find us one more kitten 😉

Come to Dead Men's Spex Open Weekend July 16th and 17th 2016

Hi there
Well this week we have been mainly preparing for our open weekend. Dead Man has refitted the shoffice with a glasses display area made from reclaimed apple crates.

He's also bought a selection of vintage optical equipment. It's rather elegant, beautifully made and very heavy! Most of it is from an optician's in Walsall in the West Midlands
(his old stomping ground).

I've displayed our frames on the racks so they can be easily seen. We've decided on cake; lemon drizzle and rhubarb crumble, same as last year. We are also having tiffin as made by our friend. All we our hoping for now is nice weather.

We are at Dead Men's Towers in our home in rural Norfolk and are open from 12 noon to 5pm Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th July. We hope you can make it to see us and our frames in their lovely new surroundings and look forward to seeing you.

Dead Men's Spex Open weekend

Hi there

We are happy to say that Dead Men's Spex open weekend went well.

We had a good amount of visitors come to Dead Men's Towers to admire our new shoffice and our vintage frames. I wouldn't let them leave until they had sampled my cake and admired the bunting!

Thank-you to everyone who supported us, it was lovely to see you all, we had a fun weekend and the weather was fairly kind; there was only one brief but heavy downpour. 

The United Nations come to Norfolk from Canada, Spain and Buckinghamshire

We are planning to have regular opening hours from September, so watch this space (and the website and Facebook page) for more details.

Deadmen's Spex at Ipswich

Hi there

We enjoyed our day out in Ipswich at the new Peachy Keen Vintage Fair in St Peter's at the Waterfront. The church was attractive and spacious and we had a sunlit position close to the radiator. What more could we want?
